Accessibility on this site
I want this site to work for everyone, including people using a screen reader, keyboard, magnifier or voice control.
What I am aiming for
I am aiming to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA. This is the standard used across Australian government and most of the public sector.
I have not had this site independently audited, so I am not claiming it fully meets that standard. I am telling you what I have done and what I know is not right yet.
What I have done
- Every page has a skip link so you can jump straight to the main content.
- The site is built with real headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate it properly.
- There is a clear visible outline as you tab through with a keyboard.
- The header never covers the link or button you have just tabbed to.
- Buttons and menu links are at least 44 pixels tall, which is large enough to tap comfortably. Links inside a sentence follow the surrounding text size, as the standard allows.
- Text and button colours were checked again for contrast when the brand colours changed in September 2026, and meet the standard.
- Text is a comfortable size, and the page reflows when you zoom in — no sideways scrolling, down to a 320 pixel wide screen.
- Every page is reachable from the menu at every screen size, including on a phone.
- Form fields have a visible label, not just grey text inside the box.
- Nothing moves, flashes or plays on its own.
What is not right yet
- The site has not been fully tested. On 14 September 2026 every page passed an automated accessibility scan against WCAG 2.2 AA, at phone, tablet and desktop sizes, with no problems found. An automated scan cannot catch everything, and the site has not yet had a screen reader test or a review by a person with disability.
- The contact form is built by another company. The form on the contact page is a Tally form shown inside this page, so how it behaves is partly out of my hands. It also sits in a fixed-height box, which can mean scrolling inside the form on a small screen. If it does not work for you, email or call me instead and I will answer exactly the same way.
I will update this page as these are fixed.
If something does not work for you
Please tell me. You do not need to explain why, and you will not be a nuisance.
Email hello@helpsidekick.com or call 0449 898 530.
I will reply within one business day, and I will tell you honestly whether I can fix it and by when. If you need the information on a page in another format — a plain document, a larger print version, or read to you over the phone — just ask and I will send it.
